Nicaragua
Adventures in Nicaragua!
An incredibly heart-warming and life-changing trip is to Nicaragua in Central America. It will honestly be the journey of a lifetime. You'll meet so many new people, experience a new culture, see new sights, and try so many different things!
Going to Nicaragua is an exercise in stepping out of your comfort zone, which is so important. Stepping out of your comfort zone is absolutely necessary if you want to actively MAKE a change! In Nicaragua, you can ride a horse through the jungle and see so many gorgeous exotic birds. The people there are open and friendly, and they might even give you a sip of a local drink - this new flavor can help you all feel more connected. Nicaragua is also a wonderful place to surf, as well as stick your toes in the sand and just relax and take it all in. There is a lot on offer here, if you’ll take the time to appreciate it!
The people there were so welcoming and kind-hearted. Throughout your travels here you will see some local schools and see all the little children interacting. It's a different feel from back home, but the kids are just the same: playing in the school yard, singing songs, and just getting to know each other. They will steal your heart!
If you check out a local village, you will be inspired by the determination and self-discipline of the people. A typical example is a community of 500, in which locals work around the clock to make sure that everyone is well taken care of, that the community has the resources that they need, and that their safety is ensured. If you can, take some time to talk about the differences between your day-to-day lives and what community means to you all. It is so touching to see the real effects of solidarity and unity. In fact, there are about 70 other communities just like this one, and the leaders of each get together every month to talk about what is working and what needs to be improved. It's true teamwork!
There was so much magic here. Waking up everyday was such a treat because I would see the lovely tide coming in, the sun glistening on the water, and the friendly faces waiting at every turn. It was obvious that the sandy beaches and warm sun contributed to my good mood; no wonder the people here are so friendly!
It is always tough when you try to do something new after being ingrained with the same thing for so long. Nicaragua is a lesson in overcoming the language barrier, a different culture, and a new pace of life. Yet you'll come out even better for it because you will learn so much and step out of yourself for a bit. Speaking with the locals will help you appreciate their home and the natural beauty that surrounds them everyday. Really, with all of the amazing flora and fauna here, you will feel inspired every single day!
